LOL-- late update

It has been multiple months since I last updated this thing. Last update was Dec 08 -- and I was 31 weeks pregnant. Now, June 10 and my daughter is already 16 months. How time flies.

Going back... She was born by emergency c-section on 2/9/09. My whole birth experience was a book - I was yelling/screaming at the doctors telling them they don't know what they're doing. Eh - anyways, at least afterward, I wrote a thank you note to the hospital thanking all the wonderful doctors and nurses they employed. LOL...

Chian Chian is her nickname - she was borned 6 lbs 14oz and 20in tall. Lots of curls in her hair -- no wonder I had heartburn during the pregnancy (maybe this is just sterotype thing)??? I put her in cloth diapers as soon as I could - about 2 months old and still going. She ate her first solids at 4 months old and walked at 11 months (and also got put into toddler's bed in her own room as well). She began signing ASL at about 9 months old.

Both our lives had changed since her birth. Everything involved around her and we enjoy every moment of it... I only wish for one thing -- for her to not grow up so fast...

31 weeks...

We just got back from Hawaii for our babymoon... While there, we also celebrated our 10 years of being together and 3 years of marriage bliss.

I am already 31 weeks and moving onto 32 weeks. I can't wait until the little peanut comes out. I'm already feeling like she's trying to claw her way out anyways. What pissed me off is, I wanted O'ver to feel the baby and everytime O'ver put his hands on my belly, the little peanut stopped moving. UGH! This month of December is going to go by quick and before you know it, it'll be only a month before the little peanut comes out! I'm not having any of the third trimester symptoms. I only have occassional heartburn and of course, braxton hicks contractions. Oh and sometimes, I have stress incontinence (TMI... hahaha)...

Her nursery is kinda ready -- I got all the essentials and I'll purchase more little stuffs. I do not want to have a babyshower -- I hate "asking" people for gifts.

Oh while I was in Hawaii, I realized that I have been over-indulging on everything and that is the reason I am gaining weight so fast. So I put myself on the portion control and to eat small meals every 2-3 hours like I should've been doing. Let's see if that works.

25th weeks and counting

Hey there, folks! Happy Halloween!

Just yesterday, I have reached my 25th weeks of pregnancy. I have already found out that I am indeed having a little baby girl (I found out about 6 weeks ago!). Since then, I have been buying everything I can get my hands on for my little peanut. I even got my Bugaboo stroller already. The next big purchase would be Amby baby hammock and car-seat and lots of little things to buy...

I'm not really into having a babyshower. It doesn't make sense to me because I want to buy everything for my little peanut. For the big ticket items, I would hate to ask people to buy them since they're so expensive.

I have been feeling the kicks and possibly braxton-hicks contractions. Actually, I have no idea what those braxton-hicks contractions feel like but I'm assuming when my stomach tighten up -- those are it. Is it? I am also starting to keep tracks of when the little peanut is active -- I noticed she's more awake at night time... GREAT! We're already opposite. It's been a week since I had a glucose test to detect gestational diabetes... No one from doctor's office called me yet so I'm assuming, I have nothing to worry about. My blood pressure is pretty good -- typically 116/62. I have a hard time sleeping at night -- doesn't matter what position I sleep in. My weight has been gaining steadily -- my face is a full moon now (literally -- acnes on my face look like craters on the moon).

I want to sell my VW Beetle so I can buy a hybrid SUV. I have my eyes set on Lexus RX400h but we'll wait and see if this darn economy goes back up.

Well, it's been 4 hours since I have last eaten. Time to eat again...

Gas? Kick? what is it?

I started feeling weird last week. It sorta feel like gas - a flutter in my lower abdomen underneath my belly button. Also, I feel this hard bump about the size of my palm in that area too... hmm I wonder if that's the little peanut....

Back dated since June 2008

It has been a long time since I've blogged. No time and no energy. But today is my 2nd day I've called out sick -- and I have nothing to do today but rest-- hence -- BLOG!!!

So... here's a timeline of what's been happening....

On 6/18/08 -- I missed my period. So that same day, purchased a home pregnancy test and TA DA!!! I am preggy... But I don't really trust home pregnancy test, so I called my primary care doctor and took the blood/urine test... O'ver was very excited when I shared the news with him.

On 6/25/08, I got my lab results back that confirmed I am about 5+ weeks preggy... WHOO HOO!!! I was so excited but we decided to keep the secret to ourselves. It's too early to tell anyways, so I hushed! But I started looking for a OB/GYN that I can trust -- we found our doctor in UCSF.

On 6/28/08, I started to notice my heightened sense of smell and nausea. I got rid of all of my air fresheners, and I even bought non-scented shampoo/conditioner. That day, my sister visited the house with her babies. She gave them a shower and decided to dry them inside my room. Smell of wet-dogs = YUCK! She came in the room and saw the home pregnancy test kit (wrapper) inside the garbage can. She asked me why I have that and if I was pregnant. I avoided her question and proceeded to telling her -- "dry them really good! they stink!" Anyways, my sister kept on asking -- she doesn't drop her question until I answered. I just showed her the lab results and she was very excited! She said, OOOH you might have twins!

On 6/29/08, we announced our big news to my side of the family. My sister ordered baby cupcakes as announcement at family dinner at home... and I gave my mom a jewelry box (with the + pregnancy test inside) and told her, "Look mommy! Tell me what you think of this! It'll cost us about $10,000+ a year to keep this." She opened the box and TA DA!

On 7/5/08, we announced the big news to the rest of the extended family!

On 7/18/08, we had our first prenatal appointment. My sister came along. She's very excited about my pregnancy. She bugged O'ver everyday online messenger, asking him to tell my sister to bring her along to the appointments. She even told him that it seems like I'm the surrogate mother carrying her kids. Anyways, at the appointment, nothing happened. A nurse took our family history and doctor did a pap-smear. He said, I don't have ectopic pregnancy and that my uterus felt pregnant.

On 8/8/08, we had our genetic testing done -- Nuchal fold test via ultrasound. We had the first look of our baby through ultrasound. I thought I was only 11 weeks and 6 days, but ultrasound said I am already 13 weeks and 1 day -- that's 9 days more advance. Very active -- lots of flip-flopping around in the belly. The test result came back with low risk for down syndrome.

On 8/18/08, I got a call from the UCSF clinic and they wanted me to consult with an endocrineologist due to my thyroid hormones being out of wack. I made an appointment on 8/21/08.

On 8/21/08, I found out that my TSH level is 0.03 (while the normal lab value is 0.35 to 4.2). The specialist and her 2 interns couldn't pinpoint what is happening to me... so she ordered more tests....

On 8/23/08, I started throwing up after I had ice-cream around 2pm then again after i ate dinner accompanied by extreme stomach pain. I cried myself to sleep.

On 8/24/08, I threw up breakfast and lunch and had extreme stomach pain again. So I called the on-call doctor who told me to check into UCSF labor and delivery. We checked in around 5pm and didn't get out till about 10:30pm. During my stay there, I was diagnosed with malnutrition but no dehydration. So they let me go home after I was able to keep down the pizza O'ver bought from the hospital's cafeteria.

On 8/25/08, I went to work as normal. I threw up my breakfast and lunch again. I had very strong stomach pain. I was crying at work then I decided to leave. O'ver picked me up at work and took me again to UCSF labor and delivery. We checked in around 3pm, and we went home around 7pm. I was diagnosed with dehydration then but since I didn't want I.V fluid, I was forced to drink ice cold water. I stopped drinking when it made me have more pain. I was given 2 medications - Zantac and Zofran and they helped. So doctor sent me home with 2 prescriptions. I filled the prescriptions at Walgreens: Zantac cost $6.41 for 60 pills and Zofran cost $169 for 20 pills (with insurance). I had another stomach pain around 10pm and went away on its own around 1am.

On 8/26/08, I called in sick from work. I took my Zantac as prescribed. I didn't have nausea and vomiting so I didn't have to take the expensive Zofran (which cost about $8 per pill)... I stayed home, relax and rest. I asked my sister to buy me a whole pepperoni pizza from Costco and Sprite (since they were what I can keep down on Sunday night)... I ate that for lunch and dinner. I had slight stomach pain again at night but not too painful.

On 8/27/08 -- that's today! I called in sick again to regain my strength back. I'm doing good so far. I ate pizza for breakfast. So far, I'm doing very good.

Up to this point of pregnancy (I'll be 16 weeks on Thursday), I gained about 8 pounds. I don't want to think about diet and stuff during this time. I would rather have a big baby than a tiny baby. I can lose weight after the baby is out. I have grown out of my regular size 6/8 clothes and am wearing the maternity clothes. Almost half way through the pregnancy -- can't wait until the little one come out!
